Sustainable and Pedagogical Technologies

Aims and Scope

Sustainable and Pedagogical Technologies is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research on educational technologies through pedagogically grounded and sustainability-oriented perspectives. The journal aims to foster rigorous academic dialogue on how digital and emerging technologies can be designed, implemented, and evaluated to support meaningful learning, long-term educational sustainability, and equitable educational development.

The primary aim of the journal is to publish high-quality empirical and theoretical studies that move beyond descriptive or tool-centered accounts of technology use and instead provide conceptually grounded, methodologically robust, and critically reflective analyses of technology-enhanced learning environments. The journal places particular emphasis on the pedagogical rationale, ethical implications, and systemic consequences of educational technologies across formal, non-formal, and lifelong learning contexts.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Pedagogically grounded design and evaluation of educational technologies

  • Sustainable digital learning environments and ecosystems

  • Artificial intelligence, learning analytics, and data-informed pedagogy in education

  • Instructional design and curriculum integration of digital technologies

  • Equity, inclusion, accessibility, and ethical considerations in technology-enhanced learning

  • Teacher education and professional development for sustainable technology use

  • Institutional, organizational, and policy dimensions of educational technology implementation

  • Long-term impact, scalability, and sustainability of technology-supported educational innovations

The journal welcomes a wide range of methodological approaches, including quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, design-based research, longitudinal studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses, provided that submissions demonstrate strong theoretical grounding and clear relevance to pedagogical practice and educational sustainability.

Studies that focus solely on technical development, software engineering, or isolated tool descriptions without substantive pedagogical analysis or sustainability considerations fall outside the scope of the journal.

By positioning pedagogy and sustainability as central analytical lenses, Sustainable and Pedagogical Technologies seeks to contribute to the development of educational technologies that are not only innovative, but also educationally meaningful, ethically responsible, and sustainable over time.
